Learn The Quiet Box Story

Starting with a ripple

Quiet Box was built to solve a problem first encountered by Quiet Box co-founder, Joe Knopp, while he built and sold his first business Ripple. The Ripple team was 100% remote and worked primarily out of coffee shops across the US. The team preferred this over an office...except when someone would need to take a Zoom call. There was little to no privacy and the professionalism would be lacking while trying to close $10,000+ contracts.

A new work world

After selling Ripple, Joe enlisted his friend Frank Matti, a recent engineering graduate from Iowa State, to solve this problem of meeting spaces on the go with him. The duo set out to build a new type of meeting booth. One that would be rentable in public spaces like the coffee shops Joe used to work at. The two built the first ever Quiet Box in a Minnesota garage during the dead of winter with temperatures below -15 degrees Fahrenheit and only a space heater to keep them warm.

Learning on the go

After constructing the first Quiet Box, Joe and Frank realized the construction wasn't up to par with expectations, but the two had still designed a great product. Over the coming months, Quiet Box found its commercial-grade manufacturing partner and added a more veteran team member, Asaph Yuan, who built the reservation software and integration with the smart lock.

Initial traction

After only 7 months of building the first prototype of Quiet Box in a garage, the team launched it's first rentable Quiet Box at 3rd St Market Hall in Milwuakee, WI. In addition to the rentable meeting booths, the team has also found success selling directly to offices and co-working spaces without the rentable feature. However, the true vision of the company remains the same: build a world where our work does not tie us to a location. The team is chasing after partnerships with convention centers who have plenty of individuals outside their offices that need to take thier calls before expanding into more food halls, coffee shops, and other third space work hang outs.
